I urgently need 7,000 Turkish Liras

This was an article by Belgin Akaltan and it appeared in a Turkish newspaper called Hurriyet. Over the past several years divorce has become increasingly difficult for woman in Turkey. In some parts of Turkey (not all), viewing woman as chattels is considered the norm. Despite all the purported progress towards EU membership and equality (including positive discrimination legislation), the cultural norms have not changed much and don’t seem to be getting better.
